Suicide, a public spectacle in AP

Karimnagar (Andhra Pradesh): A 35-year-old man committed suicide by jumping from the top of a building in Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, in full view of the police, fire brigade officials and passers-by.

Reports say that the man's wife had demanded a divorce and a local court was to give the verdict on Friday.

As the man climbed the top of a building and prepared to jump off, a crowd gathered to watch him.

Police and fire brigade officials were present but couldn't act on time. Officials said they were helpless as the man jumped to his death before he could be convinced to climb down.
