Students say no to drugs

The Humanities Club of T John College observed ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’, by organising a street play on the theme ‘Anti-Ragging’ recently at the college premises. Students from BA, BBM and BCA participated in the play.

With an objective to create awareness on effects of drug consumption and illicit trafficking amongst students, the college successfully hosted the play. Students, through their active participation, supported the event, and also, voiced the slogan “No Drug, No Ragging.”

The ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ is celebrated every year to commemorate the signing of the Declaration adopted at the International Conference against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on that day in 1987.

The United Nations observes the day as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve an international society free of drug abuse. P Neelavathi, Principal of T John College said, “The consumption of drugs and illicit trafficking are seen more amongst teenagers and young adults.  I am sure that we have made an attempt to communicate the destructive effects of such immoral habits to our students. I thank each and every person for making this event a success.”
