A man filed a complaint in the police station here on Tuesday, stating that his son, a college student, had been kidnapped and the kidnappers had demanded Rs 2 crore as ransom. The complainant Muhammed Yasin(57) was a resident of Muthumanickam Street and owned a marriage hall here.
In his complaint Muhammed Yasin said Muhammed Faizal( 22) is a B Com student in Jamal Mohamed College in Tiruchy and is staying in college hostel. He visited us in Chidambaram on Sunday and returned to college on the same day by train. “On Monday, an unknown person called us from our son’s mobile phone. He said they had kidnapped Faizal and demanded `2 crore for his release. They also threatened that if the ransom was not paid, they will kill him,” he said. Police registered a case and began investigations. ASP Durai said, “We have passed on the message to the Tiruchy police. We have been looking into the case from all possible aspects. We will find the kidnapped student soon.”
