SRK wins, ICC allows team owner in dressing room
The statement comes a day after SRK was told to stay away from player area.

Kolkata: A day after Kolkata Knight Rider owner Shah Rukh Khan lashed out at the ICC for stopping him from being near the player areas, Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday clarified that one team owner is allowed to be in the dugout during the matches.

On Sunday, the anti-corruption unit of the ICC had told Shah Rukh to stay away from player dugouts. The order had, however, promptly resulted in a rebuttal from the Bollywood actor.

“I'm really disappointed that ICC, CBI and xyz come and tell me that you can't watch the match. But Kolkata's been so good; nobody can stop me from coming to Kolkata. No one can tell me what to do and whether or not to visit my team,” Shah Rukh had lashed out.

The ICC chose not to add fuel to the fire, saying that only those with proper authorisation should be in the dugouts.

“With effect from today, we'll accredit one owner in every team who will have an official match badge,” IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi said clarifying their stance.

Besides the team owner, the franchise can also allow in four others for 15 minutes into the dugouts.

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders management feels the ICC objection itself was over the top.

“These ICC rules were made to protect international players and to keep away potential troublemakers like bookies. The rules were obviously not meant for domestic organisations and franchise owners. I mean if people of the likes of Mr Mallya, Mr Ambani and Mr Shah Rukh Khan if they want to visit their teams I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be allowed,” Team Director Kolkata Knight Riders Joy Bhattacharya.
