Shah Rukh feels 'awful' that hockey players have to ask for the salaries.

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has come out in support of the Indian men's hockey team players and in his latest tweet on twitter.com says that he is sympathetic to the team members.

Shah Rukh says he feels awful that a team playing for the country has to ask for the salaries of its players

"Feel awful for the Indian hockey team. To play for the country, national sport and have to ask for salary. And we complain we don’t win gold," Shah Rukh tweeted.

The tweet comes after demands by the hockey players to Hockey India to release their unpaid slary.

SRK has long been a fan of the game and even played the role of a player and coach in the award-winning Chak De India, a film on women's hockey.

Meanwhile, senior members of Indian hockey team will be meeting Hockey India officials on Saturday to resolve the latest crisis to hit the national game.

The entire Indian team the raised the banner of revolt against Hockey India on Friday and skipped a scheduled practice session in Pune for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.

The players are unhappy that Hockey India has brushed aside their demands for a salary and performance based incentives.

The players say that earlier they used to be paid if they did well in international tournaments but that process has been now been discontinued.

Hockey India sources say they will not bow to player power as they their performance was not worthy enough of an incentive.
