A sub-inspector of police posted in the state CID wing was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly duping 60 women of Rs 1.22 crore, police said.

A sub-inspector of police posted in the state CID wing was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly duping 60 women of Rs 1.22 crore, police said.

The SI, Prakash Chandani was on arrested for allegedly duping the women through his wife who sought investments during kitty parties in Jawaharnagar and Adarsh Nagar areas in Jaipur, an official spokesman said.

Prakash's wife Jyoti Chandani was arrested earlier on the FIRs filed by the women who used to attend kitty parties and deposit money for hidden investment purpose to her, the spokesman said, quoting DCP (East) Dr Amandeep Singh Kapoor. When the women did not get their money back, they filed the FIRs in police stations of Jawaharnagar and Adarsh Nagar, the spokesman said.

The SI was arrested under various sections of IPC including cheating and criminal conspiracy, and being a partner to property and assets of his wife, he said.
