At loggerheads with BCCI over its move to propose a five-member panel to look after cricket in the state, the Rajasthan Cricket Association on Wednesday got a shot in the arm when the Registrar of Co-operative Societies refused to recognise the Board`s ad-hoc committee.

The BCCI is all set to form a five-member committee, headed by Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Brijesh Patel, to oversee cricket affairs of disputed associations like RCA, which was suspended when former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi was allowed to become its president.

Mehmood Abdi, who is the lawyer Modi, reiterated that RCA would mull legal option if any attempt was made to make an ad- hoc body.

"Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Rajasthan government has clearly affirmed that on Wednesday that under the Rajasthan Sports Act, 2005 any ad-hoc committee can only be formed by the Registrar and no person or association other than the Registrar is competent to appoint Ad-hoc Committee and any such committee will be contrary to Rajasthan Sports Act," said Abdi.

Reacting to the clarification issued by the registrar Abdi, RCA stated that its stand has been vindicated.

In a statement issued here Wednesday, Abdi added: "We have also apprised the office of Registrar that RCA has not entered into MOU or agreement which authorises BCCI to appoint any ad-hoc committee and have also apprised him that BCCI is a societies registered under the Tamil Nadu Society Registration Act and even the BCCI constitution does not provide for formation of ad-hoc committee."
