Thane: Senior Shiv Sena leader Raghunath Padyal died due to prolonged illness at his residence in power loom town of Bhiwandi in Thane district on Monday. He was 74.
Padyal is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Padyal was credited with strengthening of the saffron party in the power loom town.
He was cremated at the civic crematorium this evening amid presence of local leaders from various political parties and people from different walks of life.
Padyal, known by his nickname Appa, had served as a Councillor of the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Council for 20 years and had been the president of city unit of Shiv Sena for over 25 years.
