Dehradun: Accusing Ramdev of acquiring illegal assets, Shankaracharya of Govardhanpeeth Swami Adhokshjanand on Sunday demanded a probe into the wealth of the yoga guru.
"He (Ramdev) takes the names of revolutionaries but his deeds are shameful especially when he wore the clothes of a woman," he told reporters on Sunday.
The swami accused Ramdev of acquiring illegal assets and asked him to first declare his assets to the people before fighting for black money stashed abroad.
The seer alleged that "the entire drama was enacted at the behest of RSS" and asked the sadhus and seers to keep themselves away from politics.
"Such kind of acts of Ramdev could create communal disturbances in the country," the swami said.
He also demanded stern action against Ramdev's close aide Acharya Balkrishna for allegedly making a forged passport.
Congress MLA from Tehri Kishore Upadhyay, who was accompanying the Shankaracharya, criticised Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank "for providing all help to Ramdev."
Ramdev was on a hunger strike against corruption along with his followers when the police, on the government's orders, decided to dismantle the elaborate camp that had been set up at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.
The yoga guru was caught dressed as a woman while heading away from the camp towards the railway station.
Ramdev, who ended his indefinite hunger strike on Sunday, made public details of his business empire worth over Rs 1,100 crore on June 9.
