Sessions court moved for cancellation of BSP MP Kadir Rana's bail
District authorities on Friday moved the Sessions court in Muzaffarnagar for cancellation of bail of a BSP MP in connection with a case of inciting communal tension during last years riots in Muzaffarnagar.

District authorities on Friday moved the Sessions court in Muzaffarnagar for cancellation of bail of a BSP MP in connection with a case of inciting communal tension during last years riots in Muzaffarnagar.

According to district government counsel Dushyant Tyagi, a petition was filed for cancelling BSP MP Kadir Rana's bail granted to him by a lower court on December 18 last year.

According to prosecution, the Sessions Court has fixed March 3 for reply.

Rana was booked for his alleged hate speech in Khalapar area of the city on August 30, when public gatherings were banned by authorities after three young men were killed due to a communal dispute in Kawal in the district on August 27.

After evading arrest for months, Rana had surrendered in a local court in Muzaffarnagar on December 17.

Rana who was a Samajwadi Party leader, left the party in 2007 to join Rashtriya Lok Dal and then switched to BSP in 2009. There are a total of four criminal cases against him, including murder, attempt to murder and robbery.
