The Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested three women in Tenali district and recovered cyanide, a highly dangerous poison, from them. The women have confessed to killing at least four people, including three women. The police stated that these arrests follow a series of crimes committed by the trio since 2022.
Police revealed that the three women initially befriended a stranger and took him into confidence. They would then offer the victims a drink poisoned with cyanide to steal their valuables. The first crime was committed in June 2022.
Recently, the trio killed a woman named Nagur B and attempted to kill two other women, who survived. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police identified the three women as Rajni, Venkateshwari, and Ramanamma, all residents of Tenali district. According to the police, Madiyala Venkateshwari, one of the accused, has a history of criminal activity. Venkateshwari, who previously worked as a volunteer, had also engaged in cybercrimes when she was abroad to earn money illegally.
The women serial killers sourced cyanide from one of their friend who is an AC mechanic. He, in turn, sourced it from gold jewelry makers. Police have seized cyanide and other evidence from their possession. The incident in Tenali district evokes chilling memories of the cyanide murders in Kerala, where a woman killed six members of her husband’s family over 14 years.
