Seminar on bio-heritage concerns concludes

‘Botanica 2012’ a two-day international seminar on ‘World Bio-heritage concerns over climate change, with a special reference to ethnic vegetables’ concluded at Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, on September 8.

 In the inaugural ceremony presided over by SN College principal B Sureshkumar, Datuk Seri Lim Chong Keat, former chairman of FRIM, Malaysia, delivered the keynote address.

SN Trust assistant secretary Kilimanoor Chandrababu, University of Kerala Science Faculty former Dean and Head of the Department of Botany C A Ninan, Syndicate member K L Vivekanandan, Anilkumar, Asokan S and Vishnu V spoke on the occasion.

Several papers pertaining to the theme of the seminar were presented at the meet. Abstracts of papers presented at the seminar were formally released by Dr Lim by handing over a copy to SN Trust manager Vellappally Natesan.

The seminar organised by the Department of Botany, SN College, Chempazhanthy, was sponsored by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala.

 The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, State Horticulture Mission and Kerala State Biodiversity Board were the co-sponsors of the seminar.

Academic Staff college director Dr Sudheer presided over the valedictory session, in which Dr Lim gave away the awards and certificates. Devipriya, organising secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
