HYDERABAD: A car, seized from a drunk driver by traffic police was stolen from Jubilee Hills police station late on Saturday night. Jubilee Hills traffic police were checking people against drunk driving in Banjara Hills when they stopped a Hyundai Accent and the driver was found to have consumed alcohol more than permissible limits.Policemen booked a case and seized the car and shifted it to Jubilee Hills traffic station after issuing a challan to the driver. However, within an hour of shifting the car, police found that the car was stolen. “Someone might have used a duplicate key to steal the car,’’ Banjara Hills police said.It is said the car was stolen when the police station sentry went inside for a brief period. Banjara Hills police inspector M Sudershan said they are trying to trace the vehicle with the help of registration number. Police, however, said they are not sure whether the vehicle was stolen by unidentified persons or taken away by the owner. A theft case was registered and investigation is on.
