Hordes of Indian fans will gather with anticipation for another glimpse of Formula One superstar Sebastian Vettel when the defending champion attempts to retain his title at the 60-lap Indian Gran Prix starting October 26.
Vettel's hard fought Korean GP win marked his third win of the season and the two-time world champion is eyeing a fourth consecutive victory next weekend. “I loved the track layout last year, but not just because I won the race,” he said this week. “With an average speed of 235km/h, the course is the second quickest of the year after Monza.”
With a full house and jam-packed expected at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), there will be overwhelming support for the German driver. Vettel enthralled Indian fans in the maiden Indian GP last year with an impressive victory and the mood is abuzz before the second edition of the race.
Vettel has been tremendous in 2012. Holding the top position in the drivers’ standing with 215 points, he will land in India as the crowd favorite. With three consecutive wins for Red Bull on the trot – in Singapore, Japan and South Korea – Vettel seems to be back in charge.
Last year, Vettel took total control of the race right from start, after he had claimed pole position from qualifying session. He was too good in the competition despite strong attempts by McLaren's Jenson Button who along with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso had podium finishes by coming in second and third respectively. Vettel had also set the fastest lap of the race on the very last lap.
