SC likely to deliver 26 judgements today
The SC is likely to deliver 26 judgements on the first day of its reopening after 49 days of summer vacation.

New Delhi: Twenty-six judgements are likely to be pronounced by the Supreme Court on the first day of its reopening on Monday after 49 days of summer vacation.

A maximum of 10 judgements would be delivered by a bench comprising Justices R V Raveendran and A K Patnaik, while another bench of Justices Mukundkam Sharma and A R Dave would deliver five judgements.

Besides, the court would also resume hearing on the issue of black money, which is listed before a bench comprising justices B Sudershan Reddy and S S Nijjar.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia would also hear the Presidential reference relating to removal of Prasar Bharti CEO B S Lali following alleged irregularities committed by him in running the public broadcaster.

The bench headed by Justice Markandey Katju would hear the maximum matter as 71 items are listed before him. It is followed by the court of Justice Reddy, whose bench would hear 70 cases.

Justice Reddy is retiring on July 7.

During the summer recess, different vacation bench heard important matters including the bail plea of DMK MP Kanimozhi in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. She failed to get any relief.

The apex court also heard the plea of Tata Motors' in connection with the land alloted to the company for its small car project Nano, and the confusion relating to implementation of the law relating to 27 per cent quota for OBC in central educational institutions.

The petition against the midnight crackdown on yoga guru Ramdev and his followers protesting against black money at Ramlila ground also came for hearing before the vacation bench of the apex court.
