New Delhi: Sania Mirza and her Zimbabwean partner on Monday became the number two team in the Race to Singapore for the WTA year-end finals in November.
Sania and Cara won the Portugal Open and reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open last week. They now have 2,462 points and trail behind Italy's table leaders Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani, who have 4,430 points.
Top eight pairs will compete in the year-end finals. In the individual doubles rankings, Sania remained in eighth place. In the ATP singles ranking charts, Somdev Devvarman gained two places to be 95 while Yuki Bhambri lost a spot to be 156th.
Saketh Myneni suffered a 32-place loss to find himself at number 297. In the doubles, Leander Paes dropped out of top-10 to be ranked 11th. Rohan Bopanna was the next best Indian in 14th.
Mahesh Bhupathi, who is set to retire after Wimbledon, continued to slide. He is at number 56 and following him is Divij Sharan (76).
