Three MLAs of Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party, including Mahendra Singh who was arrested from a dance bar in Goa, were suspended from party membership for their alleged involvement in anti-party activites on Wednesday.
The party had earlier in the day issued a show-cause notice to Mahendra Singh who was arrested in Goa and booked under Anti-Prostitution Act yesterday.
"SP MLAs Mahendra Singh, who represents Sevta constituency in Sitapur district, Radhey Shyam Jaiswal (Sitapur) and Ram Lal Akela (Bachrawah-Raebareli) have been suspended from the party by state party president Akhilesh Yadav", SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury told reporters here.
Chowdhury said Shailendra Jaiswal, son of SP MLA from Sitapur Sadar seat, Radhey Shyam Jaiswal, and Vikrant Akela, son of party Raebareli MLA Ramlal Akela, were expelled from the party.
While Shailendra's name cropped up in the firing incident in Sitapur yesterday for alleged land grabbing, Vikrant had allegedly got bulldozed a house in Raebareli to grab a piece of land.
Later, Akhilesh Yadav suspended the three MLAs, he added.
"The three MLAs have been suspended for their involvement in anti-party activities", Chowdhury said.
