THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though there are enactments like the Motor Vehicles Act and traffic rules for the orderly, smooth and safe regulation of traffic as well as safety of pedestrians, lack of proper awareness among the general public makes enforcement of laws a daunting task.  Promoting traffic awareness and mature driving behaviour is the only way out. As a first step towards achieving these objectives, the Thiruvananthapuram District Road Safety Authority and the Traffic Advisory Committee, in their meetings convened on May 26 and June 6 respectively, have decided to launch an awareness campaign titled ‘Shradha’.  Accordingly, five mobile hoardings and ten ordinary hoardings will be introduced as part of this campaign, which will be flagged off by V S Sivakumar, Minister for Transport and Devaswom, on Saturday, from Kanakakunnu Palace. Besides the five mobile hoarding vans which will move around in the city, the ten hoardings featuring road safety will be erected in selected areas of the city shortly.  City Mayor K Chandrika; District Collector Dinesh Arora, who is also the Chairman of the District Road Safety Authority; and City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham IPS  will be present on the occasion.
