New Delhi reportedly told Paris that if the French authorities photographed Sikhs without turbans, it may create a database that may not be correct.

However, if Sikhs are photographed without turbans, then they accumulating wrong are records because normally, a Sikh will always wear a turban," said Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur.
India's demand of removing the ban on Sikh turbans is reportedly being considered by French authorities.
The French Parliament had passed a law in 2004 which made it mandatory for Sikhs to remove turbans when being clicked for a driving licence.
In 2006 the Sikh community had appealed to the French President against the ruling but in vain.
