HYDERABAD: A public interest litigation petition has been filed in the  High Court for quashing of a memo issued by the commissioner and inspector-general of registration and stamps on March 31 which stated “all the registering officers are directed to accept the documents presented for registration without insisting on pattadar passbooks/title deeds until further orders”.The petitioner, P Chandrasena Reddy, a local advocate, submitted that the memo was overriding the statutory provision of laws under Section 6B and 6D of the AP Pattadar Passbooks Act, 1971. There is a possibility for registration of government, assigned and tribal lands, and lands in civil disputes in nature and multiple registration of the same and other public interested lands. If pattadar passbooks and title deeds are not updated, there is a possibility of civil disputes arising, he said. The petitioner requested the court to direct the government to  update revenue records, survey settlement and registration records from time to time as done in the case of bank accounts, and to publish details of public properties in the district gazette.
