Reconstitute house panel, says TDP

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party has demanded reconstitution of the House committee formed to probe land allotments, taking exception to the way it has been constituted. In a letter to Speaker Nadendla Manohar, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said that while setting up the committee, all the established practices had been given a go by and even the terms of reference were vague.“This would only lead to the committee serving no purpose,” he said. Naidu said the principle of proportional representation is not followed in constitution of the committee.It’s quite shocking that even the members were nominated without consulting the political parties, he said. Naidu was unhappy that no discussion with political parties were held with regard to finalising the terms of reference for the committee. “Contrary to the promise given in the House one year ago, no meeting of the floor leaders took place, The bulletin No:4 dated Feb 8 contains very vague terms which does not serve any purpose of forming the House Committee,” he said. He demanded the Speaker to reconstitute the committee by following the tradition of proportional representation and in consultation with political parties with regard to nominating members.
