AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan on Saturday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister N Rangasamy over the coal block allocation citing the latter’s “moral responsibility”. He also asked for the ongoing CBI probe into the scam to be extended to the Naini block in Odisha which was allotted to Puducherry.
Addressing a press conference here, Anbazhagan said the Puducherry administration had entered into an agreement with J R Power, a firm owned by DMK minister S Jagathratchagan, which had no prior experience to sell coal, even before the block was allocated to Puducherry. If the deal had been a proper one then the government should have got Rs 25 crore as royalty and 10 percent of the power at production rate itself. However, nothing materialised and the Odisha CM wrote to the Centre recommending cancellation of allotment to Puducherry as over 15 guidelines were violated while signing the deal, added Anbazhagan demanding a white paper on the entire deal.
