Rally to protect Jagannath Land

BHUBANESWAR: The Swabhiman Rath of Sri Jagannath Surakhya Abhijan, a socio-cultural organisation fighting the Government’s move to sell Jagannath temple land, on Monday reached Dhenkanal. Addressing a public meeting, convener of the movement Uma Ballav Rath explained the objective of the Swabhiman Yatra and urged the people to protest the sale of temple land to Anil Agarwal Foundation, which wants to set up Vedanta University.  Despite the adverse remarks of the Odisha Lokpal and the High Court for the illegal manner in which Jagannath temple land is handed over to a private company, the Government is hell bent on handing over the temple land to Vedanta. This is a shame to the Odia pride, he said and urged the people to protect the temple land.
