THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city received heavy downpour on Sunday too. According to the Meteorological Department, the situation is likely to continue till Monday. The north-east monsoon is expected to weaken by Tuesday. A low pressure area near the Kanyakumari coast which developed into a depression on Saturday was the reason for the squally weather in the city. The sea remained rough on Sunday as the wind occasionally reached speeds of 60 km per hour. The city received 7 cm rainfall till 8.30 am, while it was 25.9 mm rainfall till 5.30 pm on Sunday. The lowest temperature of 22 degrees Celsius was reported in the city, while the highest temperature was 29 degrees Celsius. Squally weather with wind speed occasionally reaching 65 km per hour is likely to continue in the state till Tuesday morning. The Meteorological Department, Thiruvananthapuram, has issued a warning against fishermen venturing into the sea. Despite the Met warning, fishermen went to sea on Saturday.
