Ranchi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met the widow and children of police inspector Induwar Francis who was beheaded by Naxals last week.

Rahul went to the slain man's house and spent about 15 minutes with the distraught family.

Sunita, the policeman's widow, later told reporters that Rahul cited the example of his own father and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who the Tamil Tigers assassinated in 1991.

"He cited his own example. He told us to overcome the grief and said that everything will be all right," she said.

The police officer was abducted by the Naxals on September 30 from Hembrum market of Khuti district. His decapitated body was found on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway October 5.
