BANGALORE: Clarifying that infrastructure build-up in the North-east was not to “counter” any efforts by neighbouring China, Air Chief Marshall NAK Browne said it was being done for better “accessibility” to the region. Speaking to media persons here on Friday, the Air Chief said, “It is not to counter anybody. All that we are doing in the region is to provide tremendous amount of accessibility to the North-east”.He also said the increased accessibility would lead to “all-round development” of the North-east. Referring to the lack of development in the region, he said it was because easy  transportation of people and resources to certain hinterlands was not possible. He also said the airfield in Arunachal Pradesh was reactivated on Friday and the AN-32 would be used there. Browne said the newly acquired C-130Js (Super Hercules) would also be operated from theVijaynagar airfield which, however, was too short for the use of fighter aircraft.
