Producers Council poll in 4 months

CHENNAI: Growing disagreement among film producers took a turn for the worse on Sunday, when a resolution favouring an ad hoc committee was made at an emergency general body meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council.  Film producer Ibrahim Rowthar, who recently joined the AIADMK, has been announced president of the ad hoc committee, and has been empowered to hold elections to the council in the next four months.On Sunday, the general body meeting passed resolutions to suspend existing office bearers of the council — president SA Chandrasekaran, treasurer Dhanu and producer PL Thenappan —  for six months. It gave the ad hoc committee the right to engage in talks with the Film Employees Federation of South India, over revision of wages for film employees.Controversy broke out within the producers council after a team of over five producers agreed on April 10 to resume talks with FEFSI.
