Prices Of Sirumalai Bananas Rise Due To Adverse Weather In Tamil Nadu's Dindigul

Manivannan, a banana dealer, who runs a banana stall in Sirumalai market, said, “Monday and Thursday, two days a week, bananas are auctioned. This year, due to the strong winds and rains, the banana trees fell, hence the supply was decreased.”

As a result, Surumalai fruit, which was sold at Rs 3500, is now costing Rs 5500. “Increasing prices bring happiness on the one hand, but inflows bring sadness at least,” Manivannan said.

In general, the Sirumalai mountain banana is very popular. This mountain banana grows in natural rainwater. Therefore, naturally, it is considered a delicious fruit. This mountain banana possesses medicinal properties. This mountain banana is not auctioned raw but cut into slices. At present, the price of mountain bananas is good, but the supply has decreased, worrying the farmers and traders. The trees go up to 10 feet and are harvested after eight months.
