Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday said that Rashtrapati Bhavan has confirmed that President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurated Suvarna Soudha on October 11.
To mark the occasion, Mukherjee will also address a special joint session of the state legislature at the newly constructed state legislature building in Belgaum.
To a question put forth by reporters, the Chief Minister said that the winter session of the state legislature would be held at Suvarna Soudha in November or December.
The Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government led by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy took the decision to construct the Suvarna Soudha in the border city to mark the 50th anniversary of state’s formation. The decision was also meant to nullify Maharasthra’s claim on Belgaum.
