NAGERCOIL: In an interesting incident, the Colachel police were able to reunite an auto driver with his much loved Pomeranian dog.Murali, an auto driver from Chekkala street in Colachel, was rearing a rare breed of Pomeranian. On Friday morning, he had set out for work from his house. His dog, which was not tied, followed Murali and reached the auto stand. Meanwhile, Murali, who got a customer, left the stand. The dog, unable to find its master, started to roam on the road and a person from the same area took the dog to his house. When Murali came home for lunch, his family members asked him about the dog and only then, Murali realised that the dog was missing. Murali and his fellow auto drivers started a search. “On Friday evening, we found the dog. The man who had taken the dog was known to me and his house is located just two streets away from my house. When I went to ask for my dog, he said that he had saved the dog from being run over by vehicles and refused to give it back,” said Murali. “When I came to know that the person was trying to sell it, I went to the police,” added Murali. A complaint to retrieve the dog was filed at the Colachel police. The man who had taken the dog was asked to come to the station on Saturday. “After conducting an enquiry with him, we came to know that the real owner was Muralai, therefore we asked Murali to take his dog back,” said a police officer from Colachel police station and added that no First Information Report was registered in this regard. On Saturday, for some hours, the bewildered dog was seen tied inside the Colachel police station premises till the enquires were over.
