Three armed men were arrested after a brief encounter for allegedly attempting to rob the house of an ex-CEO of the Noida Authority, police said on Friday.
Sunil Kumar, a resident of Daulat Pura, and Khoda area residents Balwant and Rocky, were arrested for barging into the house of ex-CEO of Noida Authority Mohinder Singh in the Sahibabad area here last night, police said.
The armed trio, who had arrived in a Swift car, barged into Singh s Kaushambi house, they said.
At the time of the incident, no one was at home as Singh along with his family has gone out of the city.
However, hearing sounds, Singh's neighbours woke up and called the police.
To avoid being caught, the accused fled the house in their car, police said.
"On the way, a police team confronted them. Seeing policemen, the accused opened fire on them. They were, however, arrested after a minor gunfight," said a senior police official.
"Police have recovered two pistols, three live cartridges, a knife, car, 17 sarees and one sliver coin from them," added the official.
The police claimed that the accused have several cases registered against them at various police stations of the district, adding t They used to target houses locked from outside.
