New Delhi: Heavy rain and floods continue to cause mayhem in the north of India. In Bihar, many villages have been submerged and houses collapsed in and around Patna.
Danapur Diyara was the worst affected. Its inhabitants complain that their houses have been inundated for over two weeks now. Those who live in low-lying areas have been forced to leave their homes after the Ganga breached its banks. Many were left stranded after roads were cut off by floodwaters, or closed as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile down south in Hyderabad, the flood situation remains grim. Scores of families have been rendered homeless after rising rivers flooded their homes and fields. The administration has already evacuated people from low-lying areas.
“With the flooded streams and rivers refusing to ebb, the locals are a terrified lot. "We are facing a lot of problem due to flood water, houses have submerged in the water and we vacated our house in the evening, we have small children at our place. We are facing lot of problem in commuting as well," said Gayur Mohammad, a flood victim.
Scores of families have been rendered homeless while expansive stretches of agricultural land have been swallowed by the floodwaters. The monsoon this year has caused heavy floods in several parts of northern and central India, causing heavy devastation to life and property.
