BANGALORE: After the recent II PUC question paper leak, undergraduate commerce (B Com) students of Bangalore University on Wednesday were prey to rumours that the IV semester Financial Management question paper had leaked. The exam commenced at 9.30 am. Between 10 am and 11 am, rumours spread that the Financial Management question paper had leaked. However, much to the relief of students and university officials, it was confirmed that they were only rumours.BU officials quickly dismissed the rumours and Registrar (Evaluation) T R Subramanya and Special Officer (Exams) Syed Jamal cleared the confusion. “I got a call around 9 am that the paper had leaked. We have fortified our system so much that there is no way a paper can leak. It is an attempt to tarnish the university’s image,” said Subramanya. According to Syed Jamal, at around 7.30 am, the question papers are collected by the representatives of various colleges, who are familiar to BU officials. The question paper packets are secure till 9 am. The packets are opened and papers are distributed between 9.10 am and 9.20 am. “How can there be a leak when the bundle is opened only around 9 am?” questioned Jamal. “The question paper packets have to be opened in the presence of the chief supervisor, outside observers and sitting squads. Only the necessary number of question papers are distributed, and the chief supervisor has to acknowledge the same with his signature,” said Subramanya. According to sources, after the II PUC question paper leak fiasco, BU officials approached the police commissioner and CID sleuths to ensure the safety of the question paper. “There is no scope for any infiltration of our system this time. We have taken all the necessary precautions, and there is no need for students to worry,” assured Subramanya.
