Colombo: Pakistan pulled off a close, four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second One-Day on Sunday after surviving an early scare chasing a meager total.
Pursuing 131 runs to win, Pakistan lost six early wickets, but Abdul Razzaq played a patient innings to take his side to victory with 32 balls to spare.
Razzaq was unbeaten on 41 at close of play after facing 101 balls and hitting two boundaries and a six.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan's new ball bowlers Rana Naved and Mohammad Asif took immediate control, picking up regular wickets after their captain Inzamam-ul-Haq elected to field first after winning the toss.
Seam bowlers Rao Ifthikar and Razzaq joined the attack to push the hosts to seven down for 56 runs after 20 overs, and later bundled them out for 130 in 44.2 overs.
Naved finished his six-over spell with 3-23 while Ifthikar, Razzaq and leg spinner Shahid Afridi took two wickets each.
When Pakistan came to bat, wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara took two brilliant catches to dismiss openers Afridi (2) and Salman Butt (4) in the four overs before the lunch break.
In the fifth over after the interval, Younis Khan (4) stroked the ball to extra cover and attempted a single, but Russel Arnold fielding closer quickly ran across, collected the ball and hit the non-striker's wicket direct to leave Pakistan three down for 34.
Inzamam was trapped LBW off a quick delivery from Lasith Malinga and Mahela Jayawardene took a reflex, low catch at second slip to dismiss Shoaib Malik for 17, to leave the total at 5-47.
A patient 35-run stand off 100 balls between Mohammad Yousuf and Razzak brought the visitors to safety.
Razzak together with Kamran Akmal added an unbeaten 52 runs to ensure victory.
Tillakaratne Dilshan batted to a an unbeaten 76-ball 48 for Sri Lanka that included three boundaries.
The hosts played without regular captain Marvan Atapattu, opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and seam bowlers Chaminda Vaas and Ruchira Perera because of injuries.
