CHENNAI: A local Fast Track Court today sentenced Dutch paedophile Wil Heum to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping children, indulging in unnatural sex with them and uploading child porn pictures on the Internet.The 56-year-old was nabbed on November 7, 2009, following an Interpol police alert.Heum was booked in 2002 by the Mahabalipuram police for sex offences against children, but let out on bail. In this case, he was accused of molesting 40 orphans at 'Little Home', an orphanage opened by him at Mamallapuram in Chennai.Heum, who came to India 30 years ago and started "social work", stayed in Mamallapuram, where he befriended several children and started the orphanage.During the trial, Heum confessed that he used children for 'unnatural relations' and also uploaded their 'acts' on the Internet, according to his confession statement submitted by the Chennai police.The trial concluded on May 18 this year and Judge K Anbazhagan today convicted Heum under Sections 367 (Kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery, etc) and 377 (Unnatural offenses), of CrPc and also under section 67-B (Publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.The accused was sentenced to undergo 10 years rigourous imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000.
