HYDERABAD: Barring a stray incident, the Education Common Entrance Test (Edcet-2011) went off peacefully across the state on Saturday.The Osmania University conducted the Edcet for admission into B.Ed regular course in colleges across the state for this academic year.Prof K S Sudheer Reddy, convener of Edcet-2011, told Express that 88.78 per cent attendance was reported across the state.One person was caught for impersonation at Sidhanthi College centre, in Secunderabad.“Barring the single incident, the test went off peacefully without any untoward incident,’’ he added.As many as 2.13 lakh candidates registered for the exam held in 457 test centres across the state. The convener said the qualifying mark in the entrance test for all candidates (except SC/ST) is 37.“Candidates will be ranked in each subject in the order of merit. Where there is a tie, part-C marks will be taken into consideration to decide relative ranking. In case of further tie, the marks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide the ranking. In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, age shall be taken into consideration and older candidates shall be given priority,’’ Sudheer Reddy said.Admission to 85 per cent of the seats shall be reserved for local candidates. “We are planning to release the results within 15 days,’’ the convener said.
