Opposition leader demands CBI probe

BANGALORE: Stating that there was a prima-facie evidence of defrauding the BBMP to the tune of Rs 1,539-crore, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah demanded the state government to order a CBI probe into the multi-crore scam. He said the Technical Vigilance Cell under Commissioner (TVCC) has revealed the misappropriation of funds in three divisions. He slammed the current enquiry was done with vested interests and the culprits remained behind the scam.Defending his demand for the CBI probe, he said, “How one can expect justice when the agency is in the control of the state government?” He said only a CBI probe could nail the culprits. He charged the government was hesitating to handover the probe to a Central agency since legislators of the Ruling party were behind the fraud.
