THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has been hospitalised following high fever and chest infection. He has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital here.The Chief Minister was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night.However, he insisted on going to the Assembly to witness the Budget presentation on Friday.He was discharged from the ICU in the morning and straight away went to the Assembly to witness the budget presentation.Oommen Chandy was accompanied by a team of doctors from the Medical College Hospital.However, after spending some time in the Assembly, Chandy developed some uneasiness and was rushed back to the hospital.The doctors have advised complete rest for five days and he has been admitted to the VIP room.Restriction has been imposed on visitors and his official engagements for the next three days have been cancelled.‘‘Over strain and exertion are the main reasons for his illness." Dr A Nizzaruddien, Superintendent, Medical College Hospital, said.‘‘The Chief Minister requires a rest for at least five days and should avoid visitors as there are chances of getting more infection,” he added.
