God and I - Goutham KarthikUnderstanding of god and religionThere is no doubt that I believe in a superpower that controls everything. I’m not a religious fanatic though I respect every religion and those who are religious. Religious practicesMy family has never forced me to perform any ritual or pooja. I think of god in my mind and say a silent prayer every day. Apart from that, there is nothing special that I do. I don’t believe in going to the temple on a daily basis because god doesn’t expect that from us.Faith in miraclesThough many a time I have wished for miracles while shooting, I don’t believe in them or in luck. Hard work is the only thing that will help us achieve. Favourite pilgrimage sitesThe only real connection I have with god is my yearly visit to Sabarimala. I have been going there from a very young age and it means a lot to me. This is one sort of prayer that I completely believe in because people make a real effort before heading there. They are clean, perform many rituals and prepare themselves for the trip. Take on meditationI remember attending compulsory meditation classes in school after which I have never tried doing it. Maybe it really does bring calm and peace for some people but I think there is some sort of hype associated with it.
