New Delhi: Anxiety and tension deepens for parents as nursery admissions in Delhi continue to be in limbo. The process of drawing lots has now been stayed by the High Court, an order which has distressed parents.
"I had taken offs, filled forms and now I am not sure if he will go to school," says Ricky Khurana whose son secured admission to a prestigious school.
In Feb this year the court had ordered scrapping of transfer points and later ordered a fresh draw of lots. This order was challenged by parents whose wards had already secured admissions. The HC has now ordered a stay on the draw of earlier lots.
This is the first time admission process has dragged on for so long with points system being changed twice and 15 notifications issued by the Education department, leading to utter confusion.
"I am so confused, don't know what to do, we are so confused. There are new guidelines again and again. We don't know," says another distressed parent.
Usually admission process gets over by March end, but this year schools are worried about a massive delay in the process. Usha Ram, Lakshman School Principal says, "I am worried for parents, process will get delayed."
With the parents also divided in two groups, a series of PILs and counter PILs leading to a prolonged legal battle and changes in the point system, the confusion amongst parents struggling to get children admitted in schools is only increasing with every passing day.
