BANGALORE: Lalbagh is the best among the parks in Bangalore. Hundreds of health conscious people visit Lalbagh for a walk. The Horticulture Department has taken up various development works at Lalbagh. However, I think these works are not sufficient to retain the glory of Lalbagh. The authorities have to ensure cleanliness at Lalbagh. I am not in favour of holding mango mela or other melas here for such melas generate a lot of garbage and create problems for people who come here for a walk.I want the Horticulture Department to spend the entry fee collected from visitors for the development of Lalbagh. As of now, they deposit the money with the government. It would be better if the money is spent to provide amenities such as more public toilets and drinking water facilities.I don’t know why the authorities have shifted the deer park to another place. It was an added attraction for children. In the absence of a deer park, the children prefer Cubbon Park instead of Lalbagh. The Cubbon Park has Bal Bhavan where they can play. There is no play area exclusively for children to play. The authorities have to reserve a portion of the park as play area for children.I want the government to appoint officers with horticulture background as in-charge for Lalbagh instead of IAS officers. I want officers like Marigowda, who visited Lalbagh every day, to be appointed. The authorities have taken up development of the lake but it is not up to the mark. It would be difficult for senior citizens to visit the park in the evening due to lack of security guards. I have not come across any security guards on duty during my visits to the Lalbagh.
