BHADRACHALAM: It is really sad news for would be tourists to the world famous Papi hills. There will be no overnight stay in the picturesque hills as the make-shift huts at Kolluru village located on the bank of river Godavari will be demolished.The central government has recently demarcated Papi hills as National Park and decided to protect wild boars in the area. According to guidelines of the forest and environmental ministry, there should not be any buildings in the national park and unauthorised construction around the park.But some huts had been erected at Kolluru village and night shelters were being run for tourists for the past few years by some private firms. Following instructions from authorities, divisional forest officer Kakinada, Mallikarjuna Rao visited Kolluru village on Monday and inspected the area.Speaking to private organizers who are running huts there, he directed them to demolish those huts immediately. He said that it was now official that the nation had declared Papi hills a national park. Stringent action would be taken against violators, he warned.
