No decision yet on fast by Telangana Congressmen

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress MPs clarified here on Friday that they had not announced, with finality, launch of an indefinite fast from July 5 but only said that they would finalise their programme at a  meeting here on July 1 or 2.All the Telangana ministers, Congress MPs, MLAs, MLCs and senior leaders will meet and finalise the action programme which includes launch of indefinite hunger strike, strategies to be adopted to bring pressure on the Centre for Telangana state formation, etc.Parliament members G Sukhender Reddy, P Balram Naik and M Jagannadham  met at the residence of Peddapally MP G Vivek on Friday and discussed  the ongoing  developments, including attacks on Congress leaders in Warangal and other places in Telangana.Talking to newsmen later, Sukhender Reddy said the time had come to take ‘divorce’ since there was a vertical division among several sections of the people of Telangana and Seemandhra. ‘‘Except for four or five Seemandhra MPs, others have come to an opinion that it will be difficult to live together and it will be good if the state is bifurcated,’’ he claimed.Noting that the T-stir had reached a decisive stage, he said the central government should take an early decision on creating Telangana state. “The Centre has already given the green signal, and we (Telangana MPs) are waiting for the train (Telangana) to arrive at the station.”Replying to a query, the Nalgonda MP said there was no going back on  resigning from Parliament or legislature for the T cause but it would be used as a last weapon to achieve the goal. There was no political conspiracy behind Telanganites’ attacks on Congress leaders in Warangal. Already, hundreds of Telangana people had sacrificed their lives for the cause in the past 50 years, he said and added that no state had been formed so far without an agitation.
