Nine hurt in matchstick factory blaze

VELLORE: Atleast nine women were injured in a matchstick factory blaze in Sedhukarai in Gudiyattam on Tuesday. Four of the workers with serious burns were sent to a private hospital in Vellore. The others were treated at the General Hospital in Gudiyattam. Fire fighting crews from Gudiyattam and Pernmabut battled to control the blaze. The cause of the fire is being probed. Sources at the scene said friction during packaging of the products may have triggered the fire.
