Nepal has grabbed Indian land: PIL
Delhi High Court seeks answers from Centre; plea alleges 10,000 acres, villages taken over by Nepal.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the Centre to reply to a petition which alleges that over 10,000 acres of Indian territory has been occupied by Nepal.

The public interest litigation (PIL) alleges that thousands of Nepalis have crossed into India through the borders at Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and grabbed several villages in the two states.

The PIL alleges that the Bihar Government has urged the Centre to reclaim the lands, but no action has been taken. Four revenue villages in West Champran district of Bihar comprising have been taken over by the Nepal Government illegally, it says.

Nepal’s currency is being traded in some of the villages of the occupied territories.

Land in Madnur forest area comprising Sectors 23, 24, 26, 30 and 32 have been under the Nepal Government's occupation for the past several months.

A division bench asked the Centre to file its reply within four weeks and posted the matter for further hearing to November 22.
