The Special Investigation Team, probing the Muzaffarnagar riot cases, on Friday filed a chargesheet against two persons accused of murder. The SIT filed its first chargesheet in the case related to violence in Kutba village in September in which eight persons were killed, in a local court against Kunwar Pal and Jogender, who have already been arrested, police said.
Both are accused of involvement in the violence during September last year, in which eight persons were killed and 24 others seriously injured. Police registered cases against 110 persons in connection with the incident but so far only two accused have been arrested.
The SIT has also sent to police a list of 37 others, allegedly involved in the incident, for arrest, but police has not yet to apprehended them. Chargesheets against them will be filed after their arrest, SIT sources said, adding that probe against the remaining 71 persons is on.
Riot victims have alleged that persons identified by SIT were roaming freely in the village, creating fear. More than 60 persons were killed and over 40,000 displaced in communal violence that had broken out in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September last year.
