Mumbai: Police officer held for killing 50-year-old man
On Sunday night, sub-inspector Amit Uttekar and 2 others had an altercation with a 50-year-old man over parking of vehicle after which they attacked him following which he died.

Thane: A police officer and two of his relatives were arrested for allegedly murdering a 50-year-old man from Dombivili township in Thane, police said on Monday.

On Sunday night, sub-inspector Amit Uttekar(30), posted at the Vanrai police station in Mumbai, had gone to a street side food joint in Dombivili along with his two relatives for dinner. At around 8.30 pm, the trio had an altercation with Fakruddin Mohammad Shaikh over parking of vehicle.

The trio got annoyed and in a fit of the anger picked up an iron rod from a nearby automobile shop and attacked Shaikh following which he died, police said.

Later, police arrested Uttekar and his two relatives and registered an offence against them under section 302 (murder) of IPC.

The accused police officer also filed a complaint against the deceased for rioting and attempting to murder him, police added.
