MP's BJP govt declared plans to form a Safai Commission to resolve the problems of sweepers and Scheduled Castes.

New Delhi: Vowing to improve the socio-economic status of Scheduled Castes (SC) in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP government on Friday declared plans to form a Safai Commission to resolve the problems of sweepers and speed up their rehabilitation.

“A Safai Commission will be formed to resolve problems faced by sweepers and accelerate their rehabilitation,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced at a SC panchayat organised in Bhopal.

Chouhan also announced that a committee will be formed to simplify and ease the process of issue of caste certificates. It will submit a report in the next two months.

Scholarships for SC students will be raised in accordance with the prevalent rate of inflation, he said, adding that arrangements will be made for classes in English language and computers in post-matric hostels.

Free coaching and boarding facilities will be provided to SC students appearing in public service commission examinations, Chouhan said.

Chouhan said incentives would also be increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 for inter-caste couples.
