CHENNAI: Taking a leaf out of the Government Railway Police (GRP) Helpdesk at the Egmore Railway Station in Chennai, the cops are planning to establish similar helpdesks at major railway junctions across Tamil Nadu.According to R Sekar, Additional Director General of Police, GRP, police personnel manning the proposed helpdesks would be trained to provide the information that a passenger requires at a railway station. We are planning to set up helpdesks in major stations including Salem, he added. The men in khaki would even give information such as the platform number of trains and assist passengers in hiring autorickshaws to their destinations.
