KOTTAYAM: Banking on new Health Minister V S Sivakumar’s assurances, the medicos, who were on a warpath against the compulsory rural service (CRS) and bond system, withdrew their agitation for the time being.Though the Kerala Medicos Joint Action Council (JAC), which spearheads the agitation, called off the relay hunger strike since Wednesday evening, after the meeting, things are yet to be sorted out. The Health Minister held talks with JAC president Dr Nibin Nahas and asked for more time to study the issue. However, the medicos gave the minister five days to look into the matter.“We will go ahead with the strike if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated time frame,” said JAC convener Dr Jinesh. Earlier, the JAC members held talks with Health Secretary Rajiv Sadanandan. However, this was not fruitful as the Health Secretary sought two months’ time to address the issues. The medicos decided to kick off the next phase of agitation by Monday if the issue is not settled.
